Why us?
There are numerous faith-based baseball organizations out there. All of them are doing great work, and I encourage you to get involved with one that fits you best. As you search and evaluate what may be the best fit for you, here are some things that we are focusing on to create a unique lane in this effort.
Multiplication and partnership focus:
Our goal is not to be everyone’s baseball chaplain. Our goal is to equip current chaplains, coaches, players, parents, and volunteers to create impact where they are. This approach allows growth, expansion, and scalability that’s not possible if we try to do all the work ourselves. We want to track and measure our impact, reach, and growth for our own efficiency. But, we don’t want the credit. We want God to get the credit first, and you to get the credit second. We’re happy with third place, or none at all. Our vision is built around the scripture of John 3:30- “He must increase, but I must decrease.”
Domestic, international, multi-lingual:
Our goal is to equip baseball players to grow in their faith starting with the nearest and growing to the nations. As our impact grows, our goal is to create long-term international partnerships that last. As our domestic impact grows, we will use these international partnerships as an avenue for our local players and coaches to serve through international trips, support, and discipleship.
Approximately 30 percent of MLB players are of Latin American Descent. This number has trickled down to younger ages. As a result, the number of Spanish speaking baseball players is at an all time high and growing. Therefore, we strive to provide the majority of our resources in English and Spanish.
Faith-focused with a Faith Vision
Faith-Focused with a God-sized Vision:
We are here to encourage and support. We love being around baseball. But, our ultimate focus is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and biblical truth. Baseball is a good gift from a good God, but it’s not God. No matter how far the game of baseball takes us, it will pass away one day. But our souls live eternally, and we want everyone we encounter to know the truth of the gospel and God’s Word. That is what matters most, and that’s what lives forever. Baseballchaplain.com is a ministry of Asaph Talks, Inc. — a 501(c)(3) ministry focused on sharing Jesus through speaking, writing, chaplaincy. More info can be found at www.asaphtalks.com
God-sized vision:
Our goal over the next 10 years is to impact 100,000 baseball players for Christ, in all 50 states, 10 countries, and 6 different continents. That may sound crazy and impossible, but we’d rather strike out swinging to end the game than be left on deck. Would you like to join us?
